TARDOC: Five Tips for Billing IBD Consultations and Services

With the introduction of TARDOC, billing for consultations and services has changed. Here are five tips from Dr. Michel Maillard on which positions to use for different services:

  • Type of drug affects preparation complexity. Position AM.05.0090 can be used in some cases such as infliximab therapy 

  • If surveillance is prolonged (>60min), AR.00.0400 can be added to your general billing 

  • When performing chromoendoscopy, extra time can be added to the coloscopy if needed using the VA.10.0020 position 

  • Surveillance during infusion therapy is different than the surveillance following endoscopy. Use positions from the chapter AM.05 

  • Telemedicine can now be billed using the AA.10.0030 position (once daily)
